Notes:
Dubbed to DAT Nov 1997
Digitised direct to CDR from the original
Reel-to-reel tape loaned by Pat Mitchell. Receipt acknowledged by Nicholas Carolan on 13 July 1988. Original tape given to Terry Moylan on 5 May 2004 at Pat Mitchell's request.
Digitised direct from reel-to-reel to CDR and catalogued by Jackie Small, May 2004.
The reel-to-reel tape catalogued here is a dubbing from a cassette recording provided (to Breandan Breathnach?) by Sean McKiernan (piper, Galway and Cork). The cassette contained items recorded by Tom Busby, New York, from his private collection for Sean McKiernan. The original recording made by Busby for McKiernan might have been on a reel-to-reel tape. Busby addresses McKiernan directly in his introductions to the various pieces. The items on band one are from cylinder recordings (except the last item, which is from a 78rpm record by Michael Gallagher). All the other items are from 78rpm records.
Items on tracks B are repeats of items from tracks A and are inferior in sound quality, etc. The versions on tracks B might have been recorded for learning / transcription purposes only.
Identifying label on original carton / tape: BB RR 153
DAT transferred digitally to hard drive and saved as 24 bit BWF using the DATs original sample rate. Files are stored on ITMA server. Niall Hackett, 2010
Imported from Reeldubs July 2013
